Peak? Off Peak?

September 2, 2010 § Leave a comment

It’s the middle of the week and what better way to get you over the hump than by sending a short email with a tip on how you can continue to reduce that pesky electricity bill?

This week’s tip is very effective and oft mentioned but seldom implemented: Use Non-critical equipment during off-peak hours.

Peak time electricity currently costs 8c/kWh (12:00-6:00pm) while off peak hours cost 2c/kWh: you could save $6000/yr if you use 100,000kWh by just scheduling production/delivery/data backup at 1:00am!
